"I want to do a workshop and I want the batik to be blue, but I don't have time to do the indigo dyeing"
Don't worry! All of our workshops include free indigo dyeing! You can do the dyeing yourself with our help or leave it with our staff, and we will do the dyeing for you. You can come back to pick it up later that day or the next morning.
"How do you calculate the prices of your workshops?"
The simple answer to that is that we have gone to great lengths to make the workshops as fair and affordable as possible. The materials are organically grown and hand harvested, hand-processed and hand-woven. The beeswax is wild harvested and dyed black with natural indigo. The indigo is grown and harvested by our master batik and it takes weeks to prepare a pot of dye. We follow fair trade practices and pay our artists a good and fair salary. The tools and clay stoves must be replaced frequently. Nothing is factory made, everything is expensive for us. All of this calculated into the cost.
"Does the money really go to the Hmong hill-tribe people?"
Yes! While most of the revenue must go directly back into supporting the operation of the batik studio, a portion of the profit is allocated to helping Hmong students and families in need. Moon Love Batik is proudly Hmong-owned and operated! Moon Love Batik is dedicated to preserving the ancient art of hand drawn Hmong batik for future generations of Hmong people all over the world. Moon Love Batik is also passionate about giving back to the Hmong hill-tribe community, knowing that even a small generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
